Summary

The objective of this project is to study the optimal road space allocation taking public transport into consideration.

Description

This project examines previous approaches to allocating road space for all users and also review approaches to giving public transport priority in road space allocation. A new approach to determining ‘optimum’ road space allocation is developed using a Social Cost Benefit approach. Advanced micro-simulation approaches to model traffic impacts of alternative public transport priority designs is used to determine guidelines for ‘optimal’ road space allocation in relation to public transport.
