How to Write a Final Year Project Proposal (Nigerian Universities and Polytechnics)

Most Nigerian schools require a 3 to 8 page proposal before approving your topic. A strong proposal saves you from being asked to change topics in your final year. Here is what every approving panel looks for.

Standard proposal structure

1. Title page 2. Introduction (1 page) 3. Statement of the problem (1 page) 4. Aim and objectives 5. Research questions or hypotheses 6. Scope of the study 7. Significance of the study 8. Methodology (very important — panels test this hard) 9. Expected contribution 10. References (5 to 10 recent ones)

What makes a proposal get approved

- The problem is specific and clearly Nigerian. - The methodology matches the problem (don't propose ML if you can't show a dataset). - The scope is realistic for your timeline. - The references are recent (last 5 years) and from reputable journals.
