How CGPA is calculated
Multiply each course's grade point by its credit units to get quality points. Add all the quality points, then divide by the total credit units for that semester — that is your GPA. Your CGPA is the same calculation across every semester you have completed, which is why one heavy course can move your cumulative score more than several small ones.

Some institutions vary these bands slightly. Always confirm against your own university's academic handbook before you rely on a projection.
Does the final year project affect CGPA?
In most universities the project carries 4–6 credit units — more than a normal course — and it is graded on the written chapters plus the oral defence. That makes it one of the single biggest movers of your final CGPA in the last two semesters.
