Literature Review Format for Nigerian Final Year Projects (Chapter Two Guide)
Chapter Two scares many students because it is mostly other people's work. Here is the cleanest structure used by Nigerian universities for both science and social-science projects.
Recommended structure
2.1 Introduction 2.2 Conceptual review (definitions, key concepts) 2.3 Theoretical framework (1 to 3 theories) 2.4 Empirical review (10 to 20 recent studies) 2.5 Summary and identification of the research gap
Empirical review — the key pattern
Each entry follows: Author (Year) studied X, using Y methodology, in Z location, and found W. Then add one sentence on what was missing.
For example: 'Adeleke (2022) examined the effect of internal control on fraud prevention in Nigerian banks, using a survey of 120 staff and multiple regression, and found a significant positive effect. However, his study did not consider digital fraud channels.'
How to find sources
Use Google Scholar, ResearchGate, AJOL (African Journals Online), and the open-access version of your university's library. Filter to the last 5 years. Save every PDF.
