Abstract

Designs a low-cost manual block moulding machine made from mild steel, with a hand lever for compaction. Includes design calculations, fabrication, and test of blocks produced. The study is organised into five chapters covering the introduction, review of related literature, system analysis and design, data presentation and analysis, and the summary, conclusion and recommendations.

Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background to the Study

Designs a low-cost manual block moulding machine made from mild steel, with a hand lever for compaction. Includes design calculations, fabrication, and test of blocks produced.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

Affordable manual block moulding machine for small-scale Nigerian builders. Existing approaches remain limited in reach, accuracy and ease of use, which creates the gap this study addresses.

1.3 Aim and Objectives

The aim of this study is to design and construction of a manual block moulding machine. The specific objectives are to:

  1. review existing literature and systems related to the study;
  2. collect and analyse data using a suitable research design;
  3. evaluate the results against the stated problem;
  4. make recommendations for practice and further research.

1.4 Scope of the Study

Introduction: background to manual block moulding machines, statement of the problem (imported block moulding machines are unaffordable for small Nigerian builders), aim and objectives, research questions, scope, significance of the study, and definition of terms.

Chapter Two: Literature Review

Literature Review: theoretical framework, review of related works on manual block moulding machines, gaps in existing studies, and a summary positioning this project. Literature Review: theoretical framework, review of related works on manual block moulding machines, gaps in existing studies, and a summary positioning this project.
