About this project
This project carries out phytochemical screening of a locally used medicinal plant to identify alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins and other bioactive compounds, then tests crude extracts against selected pathogens using agar well diffusion. It provides scientific evidence for (or against) the plant's traditional therapeutic claims.

Chapters 1–5 outline
Chapter 1
Introduction: background to phytochemistry of medicinal plants, statement of the problem (traditional medicine is widely used but rarely validated against laboratory evidence), aim and objectives, research questions, scope, significance of the study, and definition of terms.
Chapter 2
Literature Review: theoretical framework, review of related works on phytochemistry of medicinal plants, gaps in existing studies, and a summary positioning this project.
Chapter 3
Methodology / System Analysis and Design: experimental design; solvent extraction; phytochemical assays; antimicrobial testing. Includes data collection method, system requirements, use-case and architecture diagrams (or population, sample size, and instrument).
Chapter 4
Implementation and Results: phytochemical profile and zones of inhibition compared with standard drugs. Presentation of findings, testing, evaluation, and discussion of results.
Chapter 5
Summary, Conclusion and Recommendations: key findings, contribution to knowledge, limitations, and recommendations for further research.
